Mayhem in May: A Mid-War Eastern Front Escalation League

Flames of War: Eastern Front
“April showers may bring May flowers, but at The Battle Standard it brings Mayhem!  All month long in May The Battle Standard will be hosting a Mid-War Eastern Front Escalation league.  Not sure how this works?  It’s simple.  Starting the first week, each player brings in a basic core force built from the lists found in the Flames of War Sourcebook; Eastern Front.  During each successive week the points allowable for each list will increase until ending the last week at 1650 points.  The forces available include Germans, Hungarians, Romanians, Finns, and of course, the Soviet Union!
Points breakdown:
  • Week 1: 1200 points
  • Week 2: 1375 points
  • Week 3: 1550 points
  • Week 4: 1650 points

Interested?  Then come on down and check out all the action.  Our cadre of gamers range in experience from new players to a resident Masters tournament player.  We now also host an official Battlefront Ranger team! Every one of them is more than willing to show new players how it’s done.  So join us for Mayhem in May!  We’ll see you on the high ground, at The Battle Standard!” – Chris K.

Dystopian Wars Night (Every Thursday)
2:00 PM – 9:00 PM

Dystopian Wars

Join us each Thursday at The Battle Standard for Dystopian Wars!

Dystopian Wars is a victorian age steampunk miniature wargame created by Spartan Games.

“Imagine a world similar to our own, but subtly different. Now imagine the year is 1870 and the Industrial Revolution occurred decades earlier than in our own world. Technology is far advanced, and in many cases, unrecognisable, which has led to the development of fantastic naval vessels, hulking land ships and terror from the skies in the form of airships and war balloons.” -Spartan Games

MERCS Night (Every Thursday)
3:00 PM – 9:00 PM
MERCs
Thursday nights come in and experience MERCS!  MERCS is an exciting tactical miniature combat game where competing corporate security forces vie over territory in a unique and dare we say highly possible future.  When corporations run the law, lines are crossed and the boundaries are blurred!  Dive into the action controlling any one of the many factions already available in this up and coming scifi-military miniature game.
Unique to other tabletop wargames, MERCS is very quick and has an extremely low miniature count.  For this reason it is VERY affordable to get involved and easy to maintain a competitive collection.  As a matter of fact we find that people tend to purchase a second or third faction as a way to expand into the game allowing players to experience different tactics and strategies.
The basics of the core game are very much a 5 on 5 skirmish.  Each player begins by selecting 5 of his/her available archetypes to engage their opponent.  There are no points to build to and there are no limitations to who you can or cannot use.  Any 5 mercs, anytime.  The action typically takes place on a 3′ x 2′ game space were the majority of weapons have no minimum range.  This makes for immediate engagement and quick battles.  Fans of the board game FRAG by Steve Jackson Games and various console/pc games like Halo and Gears of War will really enjoy this game due to it’s shoot-’em-up, 5 on 5 game play and a unique “snap-to-cover” system.  This system allows a miniature to attack and then “snap” (move) into cover to claim the protection benefits or simply get out of the line of fire.  There’s no more standing out in the open hoping the enemy misses!
MERCS
With multiple factions available, convenient all-in-one starter boxes, and little-to-no accessories needed, getting into MERCS is a fun, easy and attractive proposition.  We believe once you’ve tried it, you’ll agree it’s a non-stop back and forth of action!.
Ask how you can get in a demo game of MERCS every thursday night at The Battle Standard or join our MERCS message board today!
