Finding Your Go-To Multiplayer Game Stores

While we’d never tell you how to play your favorite hobby games, here at The Battle Standard, we want to cultivate a sense of community and belonging, which is why we pride ourselves on being one of the fastest growing multiplayer game stores in Connecticut.

Founded in New England in 2010 by Jared Brodeur, we’ve since grown exponentially alongside the gaming community in the area, and it’s not hard to see why.

Customers all over the area can’t stop gushing about the welcoming environment, the friendly and knowledgeable staff, and all our games and events set up to get you back into the gaming world.

With that being said, this multiplayer game store is here to invite you to the myriad of events taking place this upcoming April.

Each night this month we have the March Living Campaigns; a Dungeons & Dragons adventure, with different themes each night and week from 6-10:30 pm where we explore vast lands in a seamless environment designed specifically for those of you with tight schedules wanting to get an entire campaign experience in one night.

The Long Road campaign takes place every other Friday, while SAQQARA takes place every other Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Wilds campaign is held on Mondays, while the ALCOA campaign takes place every other Wednesday.

Our multiplayer game store has a plethora of other game nights if those kinds of campaigns aren’t for you, such as Board Game day on Sundays, so bring your favorite multiplayer games to share with new friends and teach us a thing or two as we promise to get you hooked on Catan or Munchkin.

And if game nights are a bit too much for you, we’d still love to invite you over for Hobby Night on Tuesdays where you can sit and paint as you learn and share with our gaming family.

So, if you’re looking to branch out and expand your friend group or your gaming techniques, check out our calendar to see which of our events work best for you. We’re always excited to have new players of all levels and ages join our community.

A Higher “Battle” Standard for a Role Playing Game Store

Do you miss the good old days where we spent hours in worlds of our own imagination, playing out stories of your own conjuring? Well, those days don’t have to be a thing of the past with our role playing game store in East Windsor, Connecticut.

Here at The Battle Standard, we make sure you have all the adequate materials and space needed for a variety of tabletop and role playing games we sell in store and online.

A role playing game (sometimes abbreviated to RPG) is where two or more players assume imaginative characters in a fictional setting, though particularly through speech.

Furthermore, players determine their character’s actions through personalized characterization (and some playbook rules), and their actions then proceed to succeed or fail in process with the formal gaming guidelines.

We think it’s pretty cool that even while navigating a game’s rules, there’s always room for improvised strategies that can change the entire adventure.

No matter what setting your role playing game may have, you can always count on little challenges for your characters, whether they be side quests to finish, trap doors that change the trajectory of the main quest, and even puzzle solving, negotiation, and combat.

While there are many RPG video games and subgenres like cyberpunk and superheroes, Dungeons & Dragons takes the lead with 66% of the genre being medieval fantasy.

So it looks like a good thing that this role playing game store carries the necessary tools and adequate spacing to carry out your strategic campaigns.

While these games may require planning, focus, and strategy, we carry a mix of genres and intensities to ensure maximum fun.

And don’t worry, you don’t need to be an actor to enjoy these types of role playing games, just have fun and play as whatever character your heart desires.

So head on down to the Battle Standard today down at 4 Prospect Hill Road East Windsor, or visit our website to check out our wide array of games.

BATTLE CRY Hobby Competition RETURNS….safely!

Footer image
Aug. 162021

2020 was a year lost to uncertainty and many businesses laid-in-wait as we all had hoped to return to life as we knew it. It was no different for The Battle Standard and as such we opted to forgo our annual events, most notably, BATTLE CRY. This year has brought the hope of a full return and yet with rising numbers of the Delta strain of COVID-19 our state has cautioned businesses to be prepared for a return to lock-down. Where does this leave BATTLE CRY Hobby Competition 2021 you may ask?

On September 25th BATTLE CRY will absolutely return! Of all the events that we host THIS event may very well be the safest in regards to the pandemic. Our ability to accept your entries at the door whilst masked, display them in a mask-mandatory and socially distanced manner, live stream the judging and awards, and then return your entries and trophies to you safely is not only possible but currently in the works. Thus we WILL be bringing New England’s largest miniature painting, kitbash, and conversion competition to you on September 25th. Our competition will celebrate all the hard work put in during this uncomfortable closure as hobbyists took to the workbench as a way to pass the time. Diving into imagination and creativity is what we do and we had more time than ever to produce new work. It’s time to show it off!

To celebrate the human spirit our special category this year will be Historical / Modern Humanity. This category allows artists to enter human figure miniatures from any time period in human history to date. So whether you’ve been painting Victorian Academics, WWII soldiers, or Clark Kent on his way to the office. we want to see your best!

Please prepare to join us and celebrate the hobby as we all know and love it!

All proceeds from this event will be donated to cancerresearch.org in memory of our friend and fellow hobbyist, Brittney Anthony.

It’s ALIVE! In-Person Gaming Is ALIVE!

Jun. 232021

June 3rd 2021, 11 o’clock in the morning, The Battle Standard Tabletop Game & Hobby opens it’s doors to Connecticut’s gaming community for open play for the first time in 14 months. With even parts anxiety and optimism the staff waits. The owner paces back and forth concerned about incomplete projects. The manager prepares for the potential onslaught of excited players.

Would the masses return all at once? Would they return over time? Would the masses return….at all?

It was the moment when we were told by those scientist’s charged with making such calls, that we could finally let our guard down and socialize, despite an ongoing pandemic, that we questioned our own motives. Do we need to open for in-store play? If we do, is that the responsible choice? Do people need this outlet enough to risk remaining percentages of infection as low as that may be? We’d followed every instruction up until now and didn’t want to lose the momentum of success to the carelessness of anyone. We made the decision as a team. Then the gaming community responded with the answer to our concerns.

The pace at which people have returned to the tables has been nothing short of perfect. There has been no clamoring for table space, yet also no absence of interested parties. Players arrive daily, returned from days pre-COVID and also to see the store they’ve heard so much about from friends, the airwaves, and social media. Cautious and optimistic, like a roadside turtle poking it’s head out of it’s shell after any number vehicles rumble by. This is the answer. A very welcome slow-grow back to what is now our new normal. In-Person gaming is alive.

Right now, we host open play. For the safety of our community, we will hold off on events that may otherwise attract residents of states with differing mandates. We also felt that if anyone deserves to experience our newly renovated space first, it’s those locals that supported us in our time of need. Our immediate community. Then will come July. As early as the first of the month we will see events announced with leagues and tournaments. Events or all the games we love and those new games we’re just now getting the chance to experience in a public setting. Our in-store community is again…beginning to thrive.

Join us on any of our open play GAME DAYS by seeing what fits your schedule on our Online Calendar. Thanks for all your support!

The Battle Standard LLC Official Response to COVID-19

Footer image
Mar. 182020

The Battle Standard LLC, like our fellow friendly local gaming stores and small businesses in CT, is looking to best work with the circumstances presented by this unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic. Our highest priority being the health and safety of our customers and Sales & Hobby Specialists.

With the guidance of local government we have determined it is best to close off our extended-visit amenities.  This includes our Card Tables, RPG table, & Miniature Gaming Tables.

We will continue to be open for sales and services until further notice.  As such, we are increasing the cleaning of cashier counters, the store bathroom, the retail shelving, and display cases. Hand sanitizer is available at both registers and anti-bacterial soap is available in the restroom.

In addition, we have made the difficult but necessary decision to cancel or postpone all of our scheduled events until further notice.  Some of which are specifically listed below:

  • Garrison 21 (Postponed, Date TBD)
  • My Apocalyptic Playground Airbrushing 101 Class (Postponed, Date TBD)
  • Warhammer 40K ITC Tournament (Postponed, Date TBD)
  • Warhammer Age of Sigmar Path to Glory League (Postponed, Date TBD)
  • Warhammer 40K Kill Team Map Campaign (Postponed, Date TBD)
  • Warmachine Journeyman League (To be continued…)
  • ALL The March Living Campaign sessions until further notice (Cancelled)

We will resume these events and more as soon as it is proclaimed safe to do so by our Governor. In the meantime, we’d ask you to join us on Facebook (TBSNETGG) and Discord (invite) to discuss your projects and keep in touch with friends in the community.

Last but certainly not least, we have created a small token of appreciation to share with those folks willing to spend $20 or more at ANY of New England’s Friendly Local Gaming Stores (FLGS).  Simply make a purchase, or provide a proof of purchase, and you will receive this acrylic ID tag.  The idea is for you to be able to publicly display your commitment to keep our small businesses running during this difficult time.  This ID tag makes you an official member of the TBS 4 FLGS COVID-19 Community Support Team.  Again, proof of purchase from YOUR local store is just as good as a purchase with us.  It’s about the industry, the community, and the small businesses that do exactly what we do…for you.

Thank you for being a TBS customer. From our table to yours, Happy, Healthy Gaming!

Have you seen us lately?

Jun. 202012

June is a big month for our ever-growing store.  This month we’ve brought in more new product than we’ve had since we’ve opened our doors in 2010.  Games Workshop, Privateer Press, Spartan Games Dystopian Wars, Battlefront Flames of War, World of Warcraft TCG, Battlefoam and our entire board game wall all saw a major increase in stock levels.

Games Workshop’s Flyers and Battalions, Warmachine Colossals and Battle Engines and hot board games like Lords of Waterdeep are flying off the shelves.  Your support of our dream of the perfect gaming location is paying off and for your efforts we’d like to publicly say “thank you!”

So in conclusion, thanks for 2 years of support through your purchases, tournament participation and positive promotion to friends and family.  We continue to state we could not do this without the dedication and support of the gamers that form up The Battle Standard community.  From the local Connecticut crowd to those people driving from NY, NJ, MA, RI and farther (PA, ME, MD?!?! Yup, that’s right)…

*round of applause*

– The TBS Staff (Tommy, Drew, Jared and new-to-the-crew Sean!)
